About

The UON Philosophy Society is the philosophy club at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia.

The philosophy club mostly consists of students at the university. However, you do not need to study philosophy, or even be a student at the University of Newcastle, to join.

We are aiming for a comfortable, casual social group more than anything else. There is no assumed knowledge of philosophy for much of what we do. Down to earth intuitions on a topic are just as valuable as names, dates and isms.

Aims

This site aims to provide a safe place for interesting philosophical discussion, particularly for members of the UoN Philosophy Society.

We encourage our members to post content that they find interesting or insightful, including links to other sites and forms of media.

When posting links to other sites or media, we encourage our members to write a short piece on why they found it interesting, or to give us their thoughts in relation to the subject at hand.

In this way we hope to encourage an interactive and stimulating experience for all involved.

This site is a good place to raise ideas for the club; such as future events. We also aim to provide a record of previous events.

Have fun!
